Nononononono. NO.
Why does everyone seem to think that ”awkward” people and voluntarily embarrassing yourself in order to impress someone are two things that go well together? They do not.
Awkward people are awkward. Ha-ha, look at them, they’re awkward. That’s funny enough. People who embarrass themselves because they’re in love are funny because they embarrass themselves because they’re in love. Ha-ha, look at them, they’re embarrassing themselves. Thank you.
Can we please just… Awkward stereotypes do not have to embarrass themselves too. We can identify a little with the awkward, and we can identify a little with the embarrassing, and therefore, we like this character.
And then you’re overdoing it by throwing it together, and we don’t want to identify with that. It’s more like sitting with that person you were friends with at some point but who then got really annoying and won’t shut up about a topic you’re not interested in but still keeps sitting with you anyway.
